O Mond und Sonne, Herz und Leib,
Meer, Berge, Traum und Wirklichkeit!

O moon and sun, O flesh and heart,
O sea and mountains, life and art!

 Palmyra Perennis

The Latin title declares Palmyra to be enduring. The verse, in a metre from antiquity, describes how the Roman arch destroyed in 2015 stands upright in our collective memory, and the pulverised public buildings continue to hold our heritage of civilisation and enlightenment.
